Toshiba TV Malaysia recently provided an opportunity to test their massive new gaming-focused TV, the 100″ Z670N, with a particular focus on its performance with the Monster Hunter Wilds Beta. The sheer scale of this display immediately commands attention, featuring slim bezels that create an almost borderless viewing experience.

The Z670N boasts impressive gaming credentials, headlined by its native 144Hz refresh rate that delivers notably smooth motion handling. The TV also includes 120Hz to 240Hz upscaling technology, which helps minimize motion blur and reduce the visual fatigue often associated with extended gaming sessions. During testing, while the FPS counter showed 120FPS in some instances, there were some inconsistencies in frame rate reporting when using console input, though desktop and laptop connections performed as expected.


Audio performance stands out as a particular strength. The sound system combines two 15W main speakers with a 20W subwoofer, enhanced by Bazooka Bass Woofer Pro and Tru Bass Booster technologies. During Monster Hunter Wilds gameplay, audio cues like perfect guard confirmations came through with excellent clarity. The inclusion of Dolby Atmos support further elevates the audio experience, creating an immersive soundscape that matches the massive visual presentation.


The display supports a comprehensive range of HDR formats, including Dolby Vision HDR, HDR10+, HDR10, and HLG. This broad compatibility ensures optimal picture quality across different content sources, with automatic enhancement of both dark and bright scenes. The combination of Dolby Vision HDR imaging with Dolby Atmos creates what Toshiba calls Dolby Vision Atmos, promising enhanced visual and acoustic performance across streaming services and gaming content.

For gamers, the Z670N includes Game Mode Pro, which features specialized color correction alongside gaming-specific technologies like AMD FreeSync Premium, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) up to 144Hz, and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM). A live FPS counter is also available for performance monitoring.
