Open Beta for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls Set for Late July

Arc System Works and Sony Interactive Entertainment have announced an open beta test for the upcoming four-versus-four tag fighting game Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. The test will run for 72 hours starting July 24 at 12:00 a.m. PT (8:00 a.m. BST, 4:00 p.m. JST) and ending July 26 at 11:59 p.m. PT, which falls on July 27 at 7:59 a.m. BST and 3:59 p.m. JST.

The beta will be playable on PlayStation 5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. No sign-up or registration is needed, players can simply download it from their platform’s store once it goes live. Those who want to jump in right away can pre-download the beta two hours before the servers open. A PlayStation Plus subscription won’t be required, though players on both PS5 and PC will need an internet connection and an Account for PlayStation.

Fifteen of the game’s 20 launch characters will be included in the test, among them Blade, who will be playable for the first time. The full roster available during the beta includes Captain America, Iron Man, Black Panther, Storm, Magik, Wolverine, Danger, Spider-Man, Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, Peni Parker, Ghost Rider, Blade, Doctor Doom, and Magneto. Battles can take place across six stages based on locations from Marvel, including two versions of Marvel’s New York, Savage Land, X-Mansion, Knowhere, and Wakanda.

Beyond standard online matches, the beta will let players try out Casual and Ranked Match modes, along with a local Versus Mode for playing against friends or the CPU. There will also be an Open Lobby area where players can move around as customizable avatars, chat with others, and start matches at arcade cabinets placed around the space. The beta will include full localized voice-over and text in ten languages, with text-only support offered in several others, matching what’s expected at launch. Arc System Works also noted that the game has changed since last year’s closed betas, with adjustments made based on player feedback.
