Pocketpair’s communications director and publishing manager Bucky explained the reasoning behind the 2026 release date in a video message. The team wants to focus on fixing the game’s current issues before the official launch.
“Beyond just adding new content, there’s a lot of cleanup that needs to be done before Palworld can exit Early Access,” Bucky said. “It’s no secret that Palworld has a lot of quirks and jank, and we want to take the time to properly address those before releasing the game.”
The development team will spend the rest of this year working on these improvements. This means updates will be quieter than usual, and the upcoming winter update won’t be as large as the February update was. However, Bucky assured players that development is not slowing down. “Development of Palworld is not slowing down or scaling back, quite the opposite,” he said. The team has planned a “truly massive amount of content” for the 1.0 update.

While focusing on cleanup work, Pocketpair still has some surprises planned for the winter update this year. The team also plans to share sneak peeks of Palworld 1.0 soon. Players interested in trying Palworld can take advantage of a current 25% discount on Steam. The sale runs until Tuesday, September 23. Pocketpair thanked their fans for continued support and promised to keep communicating openly about the game’s development as they work toward the 2026 launch.
