Capcom revealed that Onimusha: Way of the Sword will launch on September 25, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. A free demo is available now across all platforms with pre-orders open starting today.
The game is a brand-new entry in the Onimusha series, putting players in the role of Miyamoto Musashi, a swordsman who gains the power of the Oni and must fight through waves of monstrous creatures called Genma that have overrun Kyoto during the early Edo period.

The fifth trailer for the game highlights Mount Oe, a mountain range in Kyoto that serves as a new location outside the city. In the story, it has been taken over by a colossal Genma who calls himself Shuten Doji, a name tied to Oni legend, and uses the area as his base of operations. The trailer also shows Musashi tapping into his full Oni Warrior form near the end.
The demo covers roughly 30 minutes of early story content, letting players explore the Kiyomizu-dera Temple stage and face off against Sasaki Ganryu, Musashi’s arch-rival. It includes the core combat mechanics such as Parry, Deflect, Issen, Oni Armament, and soul absorption. Progress from the demo does not carry over to the full game, but players who have demo save data will receive the Charm: Kubi Akari as a bonus item in the full game. Capcom also noted that the demo does not fully reflect the final product’s performance, and that an official PC Benchmark tool will be made available at a later date.
Pre-orders are now open on PlayStation Store across three editions. The Standard Edition is available both physically and digitally. It comes with two pre-order bonuses: the Charm: Lion Dog and the Sword Appearance: Sealed Curse. The Deluxe Edition includes the same pre-order bonuses plus the Charm: White Monkey and Sword Appearance: White Lion as additional rewards. It also comes with the Deluxe Kit, which adds three charms, six sword skins, one outfit for Musashi called Red Armor, and an Oni Gauntlet skin called Crimson Lotus. The Premium Deluxe Edition includes everything from the Deluxe Edition plus the Premium Kit, which adds three haori outfits for Musashi, three outfits each for allies Okuni and the Oni Lady, and an in-game mini digital soundtrack. The Deluxe and Premium Deluxe editions are available through digital stores only.
