The wait is finally getting shorter. Ubisoft has confirmed that Netflix’s live-action Assassin’s Creed series has officially begun production. The news was shared through X. The show is set in Ancient Rome in the year 64 AD, giving the series a very distinct historical backdrop compared to the many time periods the games have explored over the years.

A full cast has been announced for the series, and it’s a fairly stacked lineup. Toby Wallace, known for Babyteeth, and Lola Petticrew, who appeared in Say Nothing, are among the lead names. The complete cast includes: Toby Wallace, Lola Petticrew, Laura Marcus, Tanzyn Crawford, Zachary Hart, Nabhaan Rizwan, Claes Bang, Noomi Rapace, Ramzy Bedia, Sean Harris, Corrado Invernizzi, Sandra Guldberg Kamp, Youseff Kerkour, and Mirren Mack.
Netflix gave the green light to the series back in July 2025. Running the show are Roberto Patino and David Wiener, both Emmy nominees. Patino has previous credits on DMZ, Westworld, and Sons of Anarchy, while Wiener has worked on Halo, Homecoming, and The Killing.

Netflix previously described the series as “a high-octane thriller centered on the secret war between two shadowy factions.” According to its creators, the story will follow different characters across major historical events.
In a joint statement, Wiener and Patino spoke about what the show means to them: “We’ve been fans of Assassin’s Creed since its release in 2007. Every day we work on this show, we come away excited and humbled by the possibilities that Assassin’s Creed opens to us.”
