Microsoft has announced that Gears of War: Reloaded will launch on August 26, 2025, marking the series’ first-ever appearance on PlayStation alongside Xbox Series X|S, PC, and cloud platforms. The remastered version of the genre-defining 2006 third-person shooter will retail for $39.99 across all platforms and will be available day one for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers.

Gears of War: Reloaded represents the most comprehensive edition of the original game to date, building upon the foundation of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition with significant technical enhancements. Players can expect 4K resolution, 60 FPS in campaign mode, and 120 FPS in multiplayer, alongside HDR support, Dolby Vision, and 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos audio.
Moreover, the release includes all post-launch content at no additional cost, featuring the bonus campaign act, all multiplayer maps and modes, and a full roster of classic characters and cosmetics that can be unlocked through progression.

As part of Microsoft’s expanding cross-platform strategy, Gears of War: Reloaded will support both cross-play and cross-progression across all platforms. Players signing in with a Microsoft account can maintain their progress whether playing on Xbox, PlayStation 5, or PC, though the account isn’t required to play the game.
In addition, Microsoft has announced that players who purchased the digital version of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition prior to May 5, 2025, will receive Gears of War: Reloaded as a free upgrade. The remaster is being developed by The Coalition in partnership with Sumo Interactive and Disbelief as the franchise approaches its 20th anniversary in 2026.
