Netflix has announced a new documentary about the missing Malaysian Airlines MH370 plane which will premiere on the streaming platform on the 8th of March, the nine-year anniversary of the disappearance.

The documentary is titled ‘MH370: The Plane That Disappeared’. An announcement trailer for the documentary has been uploaded to the Netflix Youtube account:

“On March 8th, 2014, Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 disappeared from the radar. When the 239 people on board went missing, a global investigation into the greatest mystery of the modern age ensued. Despite official reports, countless theories, and tireless searches for evidence, one central question remained – What Are We Missing?”

The disappearance of MH370 was a large-scale issue and mystery around the world. The Boeing 777-200ER which was supposed to fly from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing seemingly changed course towards the Indian Ocean before completely disappearing off the radar. There were 239 people on the plane consisting of 227 passengers, two pilots, and ten cabin crew across 14 nations.

The director of the documentary is Louise Malkinson. She is best known for her previous work consisting of similar documentaries like ‘The Detectives: Murder on the Streets’ and ‘The Gift of Life’. The series will be split into three parts and will focus on both the mysteries surrounding the plane as well as the effect its disappearance has had on the families of the victims involved.
