Metal Slug Tactics Brings Iconic Heroes into Strategic Combat – Now Available on All Platforms!

For nearly three decades, the Metal Slug series has delighted fans with its signature run-and-gun action, cementing its status as a gaming classic. Now, fans can experience these retro-beloved characters in an entirely new way with Metal Slug Tactics, which has launched recently on November 5, 2024.

Originally announced in 2021 and developed by Leikir Studio with DotEmu as the publisher, this spin-off moves the series into fresher pastures, by shifting into tactical, turn-based gameplay. After several delays since its planned 2022 release, it’s finally available for Windows PC via Game Pass & Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. DotEmu has released a new trailer to commemorate the launch of Metal Slug Tactics, giving players a glimpse of what they could expect in this new take on the retro classic.

New Tactical Twist, Same Explosive Style

Metal Slug Tactics brings the franchise’s art style and signature chaos to a tactical RPG format, complete with roguelite elements that keep each run fresh. Players will control classic heroes—like Marco, Fio, and Eri—along with newcomers Nadia, a robotics expert, and Trevor, a mind-controlling ninja, bringing the roster to nine unique characters. Each hero can level up and bring specialized skills to over 20 mission types across 110 hand-drawn maps, where strategic moves like airstrikes and specials are essential for success.

Engage with Strategic Combat and Dynamic Progression

In this game, players will position their team members across grid-based maps to face off against the Rebel Army. The tactical approach invites a new style of gameplay as players manage reinforcements and heavy artillery against various enemy machines, adding strategic depth to the Metal Slug experience. With roguelite progression, the game promises replay value as players continue to uncover different strategies and character synergies.
