Marvel Rivals Developers Tease Major Plans for 2026

Marvel Rivals, NetEase’s hero shooter, earned a Game Awards nomination for Best Ongoing Title, reflecting strong support throughout its first year. However, developers view 2025 merely as a “warm-up” for what’s coming in 2026.

More Co-op Content on the Horizon

Fans currently know only a few details about Marvel Rivals’ future. Following the success of the Marvel Zombies PvE mode, NetEase promises to deliver even more co-op content. While specifics remain unclear, new additions could include story-driven missions or maps featuring enemies such as Hydra and AIM goons.

Season 6 heroes will include Deadpool and Elsa Bloodstone, though the studio has not revealed their exact roles. Cyclops also appeared in the Season 5 cinematic, which focused on Rogue and Gambit’s wedding.

NetEase Expands Player Choices

Executive Producer Danny Koo told Den of Geek that NetEase will not slow down in 2026. The studio already plans a full year of content. Players can expect new game modes alongside regular hero and battle pass updates.

Success with Marvel Zombies and the 18v18 mode Annihilation has influenced 2026’s content roadmap. NetEase plans to cater to every type of player, offering casual, cooperative, and competitive experiences. If the community strongly supports certain modes, NetEase may make them permanent.

Community Requests and Potential Additions

Players want new maps for core game modes, as Season 5’s maps remained limited to 18v18 and Winter Splash. They also hope for more activities in the Times Square hub, such as Marvel movie nights, fashion shows, or interactive events.

Fans also request greater community involvement, like voting on hero releases or balancing decisions. NetEase’s vast Marvel comic library allows the studio to draw from almost limitless material.
