Publisher Team17 and developer Beehive Studios have announced that monster-collecting RPG LumenTale: Memories of Trey will launch on May 26. The game will be available for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.
Alongside the release date announcement, the developers also shared more details about the game’s world, story, and monster-collecting mechanics. LumenTale: Memories of Trey aims to blend classic creature-collection gameplay with a story-driven adventure set in a colorful fantasy world.
A Story of War, Memories, and Discovery

LumenTale: Memories of Trey takes place in the world of Talea, a once peaceful empire that thrived during a golden era under the rule of its emperor. However, after the emperor passed away without naming a successor between his twin sons, the kingdom was thrown into chaos.
A civil war soon broke out between the northern faction Logos and the southern faction Mythos, both fighting to claim the throne. As the conflict spread across the land, ordinary citizens lived in fear while devastation grew throughout the empire.
In response to the turmoil, a group of protectors emerged to defend the people and preserve what remained of peace. Known as the Lumen, these guardians became protectors of the provinces, ensuring the safety of both the citizens and the mysterious creatures known as Animon.
Players step into the role of Trey, a young adventurer who sets out across Talea while searching for the truth behind his lost memories. Along the way, he will encounter mystical creatures, explore diverse regions, and slowly uncover the deeper mysteries surrounding the land.
Catch and Train Animon

At the heart of LumenTale: Memories of Trey is its creature collection system centered around Animon. These creatures are formed from Anivis, a mysterious energy that flows through the world and allows them to influence emotions and interact with the souls of living beings.
Players can capture Animon using a device called the Holoken, allowing them to recruit the creatures into their party or challenge them in battle. Each Animon comes with its own abilities and combat traits, encouraging players to build balanced teams and experiment with different strategies.
The game features around 140 known Animon species, each belonging to one of 13 elemental types. These creatures are also associated with emotional attributes, adding another layer to how they interact with both the story and combat.
Strategic Battles and Team Combat

Combat in LumenTale focuses on turn-based strategy. Players can engage in one-on-one battles or larger four-versus-four team encounters, creating opportunities for deeper tactical play.
As players progress, their Animon will gain levels and unlock new abilities. Understanding each creature’s strengths and weaknesses becomes crucial when facing tougher opponents or challenging rival trainers.
With a wide variety of elemental types and team compositions, the game encourages players to carefully plan their party lineup to gain an advantage during battles.
Trading and Building the Perfect Team

For players looking to complete their collection, LumenTale includes multiple ways to trade Animon with others.
The game features an Animon Trade Station, where players can search for specific creatures they want to add to their collection. In addition, players can trade directly with friends or interact with the broader community to exchange Animon.
These trading systems aim to make it easier for players to gather rare creatures and assemble their ideal battle teams.
Crafting, Cooking, and Adventure

Exploration in LumenTale goes beyond battling and collecting creatures. During their travels, players can stop at special locations known as Fountains, where they can craft useful items and cook meals.
Cooking and crafting allow players to create resources that help support their journey, whether by strengthening their team or providing useful items for exploration.
Players can also experiment with different ingredient combinations, adding a light crafting and discovery element to the adventure.
The Anispace: A Home for Your Animon
Captured creatures are stored in a mysterious realm known as the Anispace, a strange dimension that exists outside the normal world.
Within the Anispace, players can train their Animon, customize their environment, and strengthen bonds with their companions. The space also serves as a hub where players can manage their collection and prepare their team for upcoming battles.
By interacting with their Animon in this space, players can develop stronger connections with their creatures while improving their overall combat readiness.
A New Monster-Collecting Adventure Arrives in May
With its mix of story-driven exploration, strategic battles, and creature collection, LumenTale: Memories of Trey aims to deliver a fresh take on the monster-collecting RPG genre.
The game launches May 26 for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam, inviting players to explore the world of Talea, uncover the truth behind Trey’s lost memories, and build powerful teams of Animon along the way.
