Apple has officially announced the iPhone 17, the latest addition to its iconic smartphone lineup. The new model introduces several upgrades, including the all-new Centre Stage front camera, a larger Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion, and the powerful A19 chip for next-level performance.

Next-Generation Camera System
The Centre Stage front camera is one of the standout features, and it is also the first square front camera sensor on iPhone. This 18MP lens offers a wider field of view, intelligent AI framing, and ultra-stabilised 4K HDR video recording. Moreover, with the new Dual Capture mode, users can record with both front and rear cameras at the same time. As a result, the iPhone 17 is an ideal device for vloggers and content creators.

On the back, the phone comes with dual 48MP Fusion cameras. The main camera integrates a 2x Telephoto lens, while the Ultra Wide camera delivers four times the resolution of its predecessor. In addition, the new Photographic Styles in iOS 26 ensure sharper detail, vibrant tones, and professional-grade creative control.
Super Retina XDR Display with Ceramic Shield 2
The 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display reaches up to 3000 nits peak brightness, ensuring clear visibility even under direct sunlight. With ProMotion technology, refresh rates can adapt up to 120Hz, making scrolling, gaming, and video playback ultra-smooth.

Durability has also improved. The new Ceramic Shield 2 now offers three times better scratch resistance while also reducing glare, which ensures both toughness and clarity for daily use.
A19 Chip and AI Performance
At its core, the iPhone 17 is powered by the A19 chip, built on third-generation 3nm technology. Consequently, it delivers 1.5x faster CPU speeds and over 2x GPU performance compared to the A15 Bionic. This makes console-like gaming possible while also enabling advanced on-device AI features.

Furthermore, the chip is highly efficient, offering up to 30 hours of video playback. Paired with the new 40W Dynamic Power Adapter, charging is significantly faster. Thanks to this balance of speed and energy efficiency, the iPhone 17 becomes a powerful yet reliable daily companion.
Smarter Connectivity with iOS 26
Connectivity also takes a leap forward with Apple’s new N1 wireless chip. It supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread, which together improve AirDrop, Hotspot, and smart home features.

The iPhone 17 launches with iOS 26, which introduces a redesigned interface and Apple Intelligence. New tools such as Live Translation, smarter search, and screenshot recognition further enhance usability. Moreover, Messages, FaceTime, Maps, and Music all receive important updates. For gaming enthusiasts, the new Apple Games app creates a central hub for mobile titles.
Accessories, Colours, and Sustainability
Alongside the iPhone 17, Apple is releasing a range of new accessories. These include the Silicone Case with MagSafe (RM239), a stylish Crossbody Strap (RM299), and the Qi2-certified MagSafe Charger (from RM219).

The phone will also be available in lavender, mist blue, sage, white, and black. Additionally, in line with Apple’s 2030 sustainability initiative, the iPhone 17 is made with 30% recycled materials, including 85% recycled aluminium and 100% recycled cobalt in its battery. It is also manufactured using renewable electricity and designed for durability, repairability, and long-term support.
The iPhone 17 will come in 256GB and 512GB storage options, starting at RM3,999. Malaysian customers can begin pre-orders on Friday, September 12, while full availability begins on Friday, September 19. Additionally, through Apple Trade In, users can receive up to RM4,400 in credits when upgrading from select models. For more details, visit Apple’s official website.
