The Infinix Note 40 Pro 5G sets its sights on gamers, offering a focus on great performance and responsive controls, all at an attractive price point. Equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 7020 5G chipset, which delivers power for smooth gaming and future-proofs the phone for next-gen 5G mobile networks.

This chipset is designed for mid-range devices and specifically focuses on balancing performance and power efficiency. For everyday tasks and games, it provides lag-free performances, especially with the help of features such as XBOOST.

      Ultra-Smooth Display

The 3D-curved AMOLED display creates a more immersive experience, especially with games that utilize the widescreen format. The curved edges add a touch of elegance and make the phone extremely comfortable to hold in your hands.

Meanwhile, its 120Hz refresh rate delivers butter-smooth visuals for fast-paced action scenes, and quick movements in games will appear incredibly clear and fluid, giving you a competitive edge.

With the Infinix Note 40 offering a beautiful AMOLED display with 120Hz, games that can leverage the refresh rate with a high frame rate are sure to be a feast for the eyes as visuals run responsively and buttery smooth.

45W Fast Charging & Wireless Charging

Featuring 45W All-Round Fast Charge 2.0, you are able to quickly top up the phone’s 5000mAh battery when needed. You can expect to quickly charge your phone from 0% to 50% in 19 minutes, allowing you to have a quick late-night supper and have your phone game-ready by the time you finish your deeds.

If you prefer a cable-free charging solution, the Infinix Note 40 Pro 5G supports 20W wireless charging. Furthermore, on top of the usual wireless charging solution, the phone also supports MagCharge using the Infinix-branded attachment, which comes included with the purchase of the device alongside the MagPower magnetic powerbank. While wireless charging is generally slower than wired fast charging, it offers the convenience of simply placing the phone on a charging pad.

      Gaming Performance

For its gaming performance, we have some testing with two games to see how well the MediaTek Dimensity 7020 5G fairs, and all tests are done in Performance Mode.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang runs at a stable 60 FPS with in-game graphic settings set to Ultra and High Frame Rate set to High. With the High Frame Rate set to Super, the Infinix Note 40 Pro 5G averages around ~88 FPS.

XBOOST Frame Rate Control (Silky-Smooth Frame Rates)

XBOOST is the feature that helps maintain consistent frame rates for games such as Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), achieving an average of 88.8fps at Ultra graphic settings and the High Frame Rate option set to Super, giving you a competitive dominance over your opponents while climbing the ranks.

How it works is by optimizing system resources and prioritizing them for the game you’re playing, ensuring the phone is dedicating its processing power to delivering the best possible in-game performance.

Precision Touch Response (Expertly Tailored Touch)

Furthermore, the phone utilizes software algorithms to identify the designated touch areas on the curved edges, minimizing the chances of accidental taps being registered as intentional inputs.

By eliminating accidental touches, you can focus on the game without worrying about unintended actions messing up your strategy. Meaning that accidental taps that exit your game to the home page or unintended actions will no longer happen. This is a valuable feature for competitive gamers who rely on precise touch controls.

Immersive Haptics (Wide-band X-Axis Linear Motor)

The Wide-band X-Axis Linear Motor provides a wider range of haptic feedback compared to traditional vibration motors. You’ll feel subtle in-game actions and environmental cues with greater detail, enhancing the realism of your gameplay. The combination of precise haptics and the impressive visuals on the display creates a truly immersive 4D gaming experience, making you feel more connected to the action on screen.

      Dual Speakers with JBL Sound

The phone features two speakers, offering stereo sound for a more immersive experience compared to a single-speaker setup. This allows you to better hear directional cues in games and appreciate the full range of audio in music and movies.

The speakers are tuned by JBL and awarded Hi-Res Certification, so do expect richer sound with deeper bass, clearer highs, and overall better audio quality compared to untuned speakers often found in smartphones at this price range.

      Software Support

The Note 40 Pro 5G comes with XOS 14 based on Android 14 and Infinix has promised two major Android version software updates for the Note 40 Pro 5G. This means you’ll receive the latest Android features for two years after the phone’s initial release and security patches for up to three years on top of the two major Android version upgrades. This ensures your phone stays secure and up-to-date with the latest advancements on Android.

      Competition

At a price point of RM1,098, there’s only a handful of other phones that are of similar build that can compete with the Infinix Note 40 Pro 5G. The Infinix Note 40 Pro 5G offers the largest display at 6.78 inches compared to phones that offer sizes like 6.67 inches or 6.72 inches.

While the phones within this price point have the same battery capacity of 5000 mAh at a 45W wired charging, the Infinix Note 40 Pro stands out the most in the battery department as it offers 20W wireless MagCharge, reverse wired charging, and even reverse wireless charging.

What blows the competition out of the water is the chipset on the Infinix Note 40 Pro 5G. The Mediatek Dimensity 7020 is a very good chipset especially when it comes to gaming and power efficiency in comparison to the Mediatek Dimensity 6080 and Mediatek Dimensity 6100+.

      The Verdict

If you’re a budget-minded gamer looking for a phone that prioritizes a smooth light gaming experience, a stunning display, and innovative features to elevate your gameplay, the Infinix Note 40 Pro 5G is a compelling option at the price of RM1,098. Not to mention, the device also supports 5G connectivity, so expect a smooth online gaming experience with minimal lags.

If you’re looking for an even more budget-friendly alternative; however, the Infinix Note 40 might be for you. It keeps all of the features that make the Infinix Note 40 Pro 5G compelling including the 120Hz AMOLED screen, 45W fast charging + 20W wireless charging, 108MP Super-Zoom camera, dual speakers sound by JBL.

The only major difference between the two phones is that the normal Infinix Note 40 runs on the Mediatek Helio G99 Ultimate chipset which is a slight downgrade from the Pro’s Mediatek Dimensity 7020. However, it won’t affect your light gaming experience as you will still be able to run games like Mobile Legends: Bang Bang at around 60 FPS instead of 88 FPS like on the Pro.

The Infinix Note 40 starts at RM 898 while the Infinix Note 40 Pro 5G starts at RM 1,098. Both phones are available in the color choices between Obsidian Black, Titan Gold, and Vintage Green. Whether you get the normal or the Pro variant, either will offer you a beautiful screen display, fast charging, and decent software support, making it a well-rounded choice for everyday use beyond gaming.

The Infinix Note 40 Series is available nationwide on Infinix Official Stores on Lazada, Shopee, TikTok Shop, and Infinix Malaysia Authorised Dealers. You can make your purchases as stocks are readily available now, and you will receive a FREE MagPower powerbank (worth RM69) with every purchase of the NOTE 40 Pro 5G or the NOTE 40 while stocks last!
