In a YouTube video, former PlatinumGames vice president Hideki Kamiya has confirmed the departure of five additional high-profile directors from the acclaimed Japanese studio. The revelation came during a bonus segment showing what Kamiya described as a “former PlatinumGames directors’ drinking party.”
The gathering included several key creative figures: Bayonetta 3 director Yusuke Miyata, Astral Chain director Takahisa Taura, Metal Gear Rising director Kenji Saito, Bayonetta Origins director Abebe Tinari, and Anarchy Reigns character designer Masaki Yamanaka. While Tinari had previously announced his departure last month, this marks the first confirmation of exits for Taura, Saito, Miyata, and Yamanaka.
“Games are made by people,” Kamiya stated in the video. “Wherever they go from here, they’ll create things that only they can… please look forward to their work!”
These departures follow Kamiya’s own exit from PlatinumGames in October 2023, after which he established Clovers, a new studio backed by Capcom. While the future destinations of the other directors remain unclear, social media activity suggests that Taura may be founding his own studio.

PlatinumGames has maintained a low profile since Kamiya’s departure, though the company recently broke its silence to announce a new Ninja Gaiden game in collaboration with Koei Tecmo and Microsoft. In a December interview about his new venture, Kamiya explained his departure from Platinum, citing philosophical differences about game development.
Clovers has already attracted several former Platinum staff members, including co-founder Kento Koyama and cinematic director Kunihiko Tsuda, known for his work on Okami, Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, and Astral Chain.
