Nintendo eShop and Switch Online services officially launched in Malaysia on November 18, 2025. If you’re looking to change your account region to Malaysia, here’s what you need to know.
Before you make the switch, be aware of these important consequences:
Your eShop credit will disappear. Any money left in your account balance cannot be transferred and will be lost completely. Make sure to spend everything down to zero before changing regions.
Active subscriptions must be cancelled first. You cannot change your country if you have any active subscription with auto-renewal turned on, including Nintendo Switch Online. You’ll need to cancel these subscriptions before proceeding.
Pre-ordered games may be cancelled. If you’ve pre-ordered games that haven’t released yet, there’s a high chance these orders will be automatically cancelled.
How to Change Your Account Country
You need to do this through a web browser on your computer or phone—not through your Switch console.
Step 1: Open your web browser and go to https://accounts.nintendo.com
Step 2: Log in using your email address and password
Step 3: Click on “User Information”
Step 4: Under the profile section, click “Edit” next to the “Profile” button
Step 5: Look for “Country/Region of Residence” and click on it. Select “Malaysia” from the list
Step 6: Click “Save changes.” You’ll need to read and agree to the Nintendo Account Agreement for Malaysia. After you agree, your changes will be saved
After completing these steps, the next time you open Nintendo eShop on your Switch, it will reload and show the Malaysian version with prices in Malaysian Ringgit (RM).
Creating a Second Account Instead
If you don’t want to risk changing your main account—especially if you already have many games—you can create a separate account:
- Make a new Nintendo Account with a different email address and set Malaysia as the country
- Add a new user to your Switch console and link this new account to it
This way, you can keep your original account untouched while having a dedicated account for purchasing games from the Malaysian eShop.

With Nintendo eShop and Switch Online now officially available in Malaysia alongside Singapore and Thailand, players in the region finally have access to the full range of digital services and online features. Whether you choose to switch your existing account or create a new one specifically for the Malaysian eShop, you can now enjoy local pricing in Ringgit and all the benefits these services offer.
