Capcom has assured fans that Resident Evil Requiem is unlikely to suffer the PC performance problems that affected Monster Hunter Wilds. Since its February 2025 launch, Wilds struggled with frame rate drops, stuttering, and stability issues on certain PCs. The technical challenges drew criticism and prompted Capcom to promise improvements.

Why Requiem Differs From Monster Hunter Wilds

During a recent financial Q&A, Capcom explained that Resident Evil Requiem differs significantly from Monster Hunter Wilds. The differences include gameplay mechanics, system architecture, and network features. While Wilds relied heavily on online systems and complex simulations, Requiem’s design prioritizes scalable performance across a wider range of hardware.

“At present, we do not anticipate similar risks,” Capcom stated. “We are developing the game to deliver a smooth experience for both mid-range and high-end PCs.” By optimizing the engine and refining systems from the start, the company aims to avoid repeating past mistakes.

The comparison highlights that Requiem is not just another RE Engine project. Unlike Wilds, which pushed the engine to its limits on PC, Requiem uses a more controlled implementation. This should provide better frame rates, faster load times, and fewer crashes.
Multi-Platform Development and Switch 2 Insights

Director Koshi Nakanish also addressed Requiem’s multi-platform development. Thanks to the RE Engine’s scalability, the team could adapt the game for consoles and high-end PCs efficiently. Bringing the game to Nintendo Switch 2 was mostly a matter of scaling rather than solving technical bottlenecks. “It wasn’t a massive challenge,” Nakanish said.

Requiem will release on February 27 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. In contrast, Monster Hunter Wilds launched only on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The Switch 2 version demonstrates how Requiem can scale across even lower-power platforms while maintaining stability.
What This Means for Players

Capcom’s statements underline key differences between the two games. Players can expect stable PC performance, optimized visuals, and smooth network functionality in Requiem. Lessons learned from Monster Hunter Wilds appear to have shaped the development process, ensuring Requiem avoids similar issues.

For fans, this means fewer technical headaches and a more reliable experience across platforms. With the engine proven scalable, Requiem promises polished gameplay, responsive controls, and high-quality visuals for both console and PC audiences. Compared to Wilds, the focus on optimization makes Requiem a safer bet for players who value stability and performance. For more updates on Resident Evil Requiem, follow their official X account.
