Pokemon Go is currently invaded by Team Rocket! Shadow Pokemon have been appearing, and players have to defeat and purify any they may find. The event could see long-lasting impact on the augmented reality game. If you’re quick, you can catch a glimpse of Giovanni’s silhouette in the trailer.

For the unfamiliar, Giovanni is the boss of Team Rocket, and the main antagonist of the original Pokemon Red and Blue games. He’s since had roles in the anime and the films, so he’s quite a prominent figure.

Pokestops have been taken over and players have to battle it out to reclaim them. You can also fight the GORocket grunts just like gym battles. Players have been able to catch an Armored Mewtwo in legendary raids, which itself has ties to Giovanni. Should the man himself be in Pokemon Go won’t be known now, but it would certainly be interesting.
