SNK has announced the open beta test for their highly anticipated fighting game, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, giving players an early chance to experience this modern revival of the iconic franchise. The beta will run from February 20 at 12:00 AM PST to February 24 at 11:59 PM PST, offering a glimpse of the action ahead of the game’s official release on April 24, 2025.
The open beta will be available across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, with no subscription required for PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass. Players can dive into three online modes—Ranked Match, Casual Match, and Room Match—or hone their skills offline in the Training Mode.
During the test, participants can choose from eight playable characters, though the full roster remains under wraps for now. The game features an innovative REV System for dynamic, action-packed fights and two distinct control schemes catering to both newcomers and veteran players.
Visually, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves adopts a comic-inspired art style, blending nostalgia with a modern twist to captivate series fans and newcomers alike. This marks the franchise’s triumphant return after a 26-year hiatus, with its last title, Garou: Mark of the Wolves, launching in 1999.
The final game will launch with 16 fighters at release, including returning fan favorites, new characters, and two guest DLC appearances from Street Fighter’s Ken Masters and Chun-Li.
