Bethesda Softworks and Bethesda Game Studios have announced that Fallout 76’s next free update, Burning Springs, will arrive on December 2. The publisher also confirmed that PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions of the game are planned for early 2026.
The Burning Springs update adds a new desert area set in post-nuclear Ohio. Players will encounter The Rust King, an intelligent Super Mutant who controls deathclaws and raiders in the region. The update also features The Ghoul, a character from the Fallout TV series, who will offer bounty hunting missions at a local gathering spot.
Players can take on bounty hunting events that start at lower difficulty levels and progress to tougher challenges. Completing these missions rewards players with caps and legendary items. Higher-risk bounties offer unique mods that work for both human characters and ghouls.
The update includes two new group events. In “Gearing Up,” players help The Rust King’s Beastmaster manage deathclaws used in arena battles. In “Sinkhole Solutions,” players defend the settlement of Highwaytown against attacking Radscorpions and Stingwings.

Fallout 76 is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC through Steam and the Microsoft Store. The Burning Springs update will be free for all players when it launches next month.
