If you’ve been keeping an eye on Etrange Overlord, you can now try it out before buying. Publishers NIS America and Broccoli, along with developer Gemdrops, have announced that a free demo for the musical action adventure game is available right now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
The Etrange Overlord demo covers the opening hours of the game, letting players get through up to stage 2-4. That’s a decent chunk of content to get a feel for how the game plays.

The story follows Lady Étrange von Rosenburg, a noblewoman who gets executed after being framed for the assassination of the king. Waking up in hell, she decides she’ll just have to take the whole place over. The game comes from Sohei Niikawa, creator of the beloved series Disgaea, which originally released in 2003. Character designs and key art are handled by Shinichiro Otsuka, illustrator of the hit light novel series Re:ZERO – Starting Life in Another World.
One handy detail worth knowing is that your save data from the Etrange Overlord demo carries over to the full game. There’s a small catch though you’ll need to apply the day one patch first before the transfer works. Etrange Overlord is set to launch worldwide on March 26 across all the same platforms, PS5, PS4, Switch, and PC via Steam.
