Blizzard Entertainment announces the Blood Knight as the newest class available exclusively to Diablo Immortal, coming July 13th.
Blood Knight Spotlight
The Blood Knight will be a mid-range class wielding a polearm and has hybrid attack options, attacking either with melee or ranged depending on their proximity to the target.
Their abilities focus on absorbing their enemies’ life force to empower themselves.
For example, the skill Abomination transforms the Blood Knight into a powerful alternate form after absorbing blood through defeated enemies, gaining new abilities in the process.
Story
The accursed Blood Knights are trained under the order Gea Kul to utilize ancient spear fighting techniques.
They possess an ethereal connection to other Blood Knights and must remain resilient.
To celebrate the launch of the Blood Knight, Blizzard also released a short story about them titled “Instincts” by Ryan Quinn.
More of the Blood Knights’ origins can be learned through playing a new story-driven Elite Quest ‘Vowed in Blood’ as players experience the class’s torment to harness their curse.
To give players the opportunity to try out the Blood Knight as soon as possible, a newly improved Class Change will be implemented.
Players can convert their existing character into a Blood Knight without the first 3 weeks Class Change cooldown.
“We’re so excited to be introducing the Blood Knight to Sanctuary,” says executive producer Peiwen Yao.
“This vampiric class wields dynamic, hybrid melee prowess, allowing players to choose between aggressive physical attacks, harnessing blood magic, or something in between! We’re all looking forward to seeing what players can do with this new skill kit.”
Feature Updates
Besides the Blood Knight, other additional features will also be added to Diablo Immortal.
A new combat mechanic will add stances to each set of weapons, allowing players to gain different effects by switching weapons in the middle of combat.
The stance mechanic will be available to every class.
A new three-week-long event similar to the Fractured Plane called the Crimson Plane will also be coming.
In this event, everyone will play as a Blood Knight to complete a 15-floor gauntlet without the players’ usual gears.
Players will instead advance the gauntlet using only pre-selected skills and their own instincts.
Upon completion, players will obtain Blood Knight-related cosmetic and legendary items.
The event will be available 13th July to 2nd August, 3 a.m. server time.
Along with the Blood Knight, up to 60 new class-specific Legendary items will also be released.
