SEGA has officially launched Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2 across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. Meanwhile, PC players who purchased the Deluxe Edition on Steam can also start playing today ahead of its wider PC release on August 6.
To mark the launch, a new trailer has also been released, offering a closer look at the game’s action-packed Story and VS Modes.
Relive the Journey Through the Entertainment District and Beyond

In Story Mode, players can follow the events of the Entertainment District Arc, Swordsmith Village Arc, and Hashira Training Arc. This narrative picks up right where the first Hinokami Chronicles left off, letting fans experience iconic battles and beautifully animated scenes from the anime series.
For those who want to refresh their memory, a special mode called The Path of a Demon Slayer lets you revisit past events from Unwavering Resolve Arc and Mugen Train Arc.
Over 40 Playable Fighters Including All Nine Hashira

VS Mode returns with over 40 playable characters, ranging from series regulars to powerful newcomers. Players can now take control of all nine Hashira, including fan favorites like Giyu Tomioka, Kyojuro Rengoku, and Mitsuri Kanroji. The roster also features Upper Rank demons such as Gyokko and Zohakuten, and even alternate versions from Kimetsu Academy.
Adding to the excitement, Dual Ultimates introduce flashy finishing moves unlocked through specific character pairings. These powerful team techniques emphasize the theme of forged bonds while giving players a chance to devastate their opponents in style.
Grow Stronger Through Mastery and Training Paths

A brand-new Training Paths mode allows you to train under a Hashira of your choice. You’ll face increasingly challenging opponents before going head-to-head against the mentor themselves. The more you fight, the more your chosen characters gain Mastery. As mastery increases, you’ll unlock rewards that can be used to craft a unique Slayer ID to show off online.
Meanwhile, a new Gear system introduces equippable items that enhance attack power or restore health mid-battle. This allows for further customization as you fight through Story and VS Modes.
More Fighters Coming Post-Launch

The game is only just getting started, as SEGA confirmed that Muzan Kibutsuji will join the roster in a free post-launch update. Additional characters will also be introduced through the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Character Pass, giving fans even more reasons to keep returning to the battlefield.
Pre-Order Bonuses, Editions, and Save Data Rewards
Players can choose between Standard and Deluxe Editions for both physical and digital platforms. The Deluxe Edition comes packed with character unlock tokens, alternate battle attire, system voices, and more.
If you have save data from the previous Hinokami Chronicles game or Sweep the Board, you’ll also unlock exclusive characters and outfits such as Academy Tanjiro, Academy Nezuko, and the wives of Tengen Uzui: Hinatsuru, Makio, and Suma.
Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2 is now available digitally and physically for PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. Deluxe Edition players on Steam can dive in today, while Standard Edition users can start on August 6.
