Remedy Entertainment just confirmed on social media that CONTROL’s much-anticipated sequel has gone gold and will launch on its planned date of September 24, with a slight catch. They also stated that the CONTROL Resonant physical version of the game is coming out a month later, on October 15th, explaining that they ‘need more time to deliver.’

The news comes after the debacle surrounding Sony’s announcement of halting disc production by 2028, but a staggered release of digital and physical copies isn’t new with Remedy. Their previous single-player title, Alan Wake 2, didn’t have a physical version until a year after its initial digital release.
Although some gamers are eyeing to pick up the game in October instead of getting the box edition, Remedy boss Jean-Charles Gaudechon recently told investors, ‘We position CONTROL Resonant as a must-have day-one purchase while also building CONTROL into a lasting franchise.’
Gaudechon also acknowledged the competitive autumn window in the industry, and stated that CONTROL Resonant’s ‘distinctiveness and quality of the game will make it stand out.’
CONTROL Resonant is a follow-up to Remedy’s hit run-and-gun game in 2019. This time, however, the game follows Dylan Faden, the brother of the first installment’s main protagonist Jesse, and turns the gameplay into a hack-and-slash. According to the devs, Dylan is put ‘at the center of a growing supernatural crisis’ in Manhattan, where he’s ‘humanity’s last line of defense.’
The trippy paranormal action game from Remedy comes out on September 24, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, with pre-orders live now. Those waiting for a CONTROL Resonant physical copy, however, need to wait an additional month before its October 15th release.
