SUNSOFT, Clouded Leopard Entertainment, and Red Art Studios have revealed the return of City Hunter, a revival of the classic PC Engine side-scrolling action game. The new version will launch worldwide on February 26, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, Switch, and PC via Steam. Importantly, it will feature full multilingual localization to reach fans everywhere.
A Classic Returns After 35 Years
Originally released on March 2, 1990, the PC Engine’s sole official City Hunter game is finally coming back after 35 years. This revival does more than preserve nostalgia. Instead, it merges the charm of the original with modern updates.

With simultaneous worldwide release, both long-time fans and new players can enjoy the experience together. Furthermore, multilingual support removes language barriers, ensuring the story and gameplay remain accessible to everyone.
Story of Ryo Saeba
Players once again step into the shoes of Ryo Saeba, better known as City Hunter. Ryo is a professional “sweeper,” taking on dangerous jobs ranging from assassinations to protecting women in peril. His life constantly teeters on the edge of risk, making every mission unpredictable.

Alongside him is Kaori, his late best friend’s younger sister, who provides support but rarely brings promising jobs. With this revival, players can once more follow Ryo’s adventures and discover what challenges await in the neon-soaked city streets.
New Features
The developers are not only reviving the game but also enhancing it with fresh features. Most notably, it will include full multi-language support, spanning Japanese, English, French (with the Nicky Larson version), German, Italian, Spanish, Korean, and both Traditional and Simplified Chinese.

Therefore, fans around the globe can enjoy City Hunter without limitations. In addition, modern platforms ensure smoother visuals, improved accessibility, and updated gameplay. These changes give the title a second life while preserving its original essence. For more updates on the game, follow SUNSOFT on their official X account.
