At this year’s TableCon Quest 2025, I managed to sit down with three very different board games. Each one had its own unique hook, ranging from fast-paced dice duels to lighthearted tactical warfare and even a thoughtful game about protecting migratory birds. Here’s a look at my experience with Dice Duelo, Tank Clash: Western Front, and Fly-A-Way.
Dice Duelo – A Poker Duel with Dice

Dice Duelo is a quick two-player showdown where strategy matters more than luck. Instead of reflexes, the tension comes from careful placement and predicting your opponent’s moves. Players secretly roll their dice, then take turns placing them onto a shared board to build the strongest poker-style hand.
What makes the game exciting is the duel mechanic. At any moment, one player can call a “shot,” forcing the other to respond with defenses or even counterattacks. This constant push and pull keeps each round dynamic and unpredictable.

When I tried it, I was surprised at how much tension such a simple system could create. Every placement feels like a tiny mind game—strengthen your hand or block your opponent’s? Combined with the Wild West theme, Dice Duelo really nails that one-on-one showdown vibe. Buy the game here and watch the tutorial on how to play.
Tank Clash: Western Front – Chibi Tanks on the Battlefield
Next up was Tank Clash: Western Front, a two-player tactical wargame with a playful twist. Instead of gritty realism, you’re commanding chibi-style German or American tanks across a colorful battlefield. Victory can come from destroying enemy tanks, capturing bases, or completing hidden mission cards.

Combat mixes dice rolls, armor tokens, and tactical cards to create a balance between accessibility and strategy. Even in my shortened demo, I found myself second-guessing every move—should I charge forward or play cautiously in case my opponent had a surprise planned?

What stood out most was the charm of the design. The bright, chibi tanks make the game approachable while still carrying the tension of tactical warfare. It’s easy to learn, but once you add the mission cards and tactical layers, it offers real depth and replayability. Buy the game here and watch the setup and basics overview.
Fly-A-Way – Helping Birds Migrate Across Asia
Finally, I tried something completely different with Fly-A-Way. Instead of dueling or battling, this game is all about helping migratory birds safely travel across Asia. Players build flight paths, complete migration journeys, and score points by saving endangered species.

What impressed me most was how it balanced education and competition. You learn real-world bird migration facts while planning routes, scoring points, and facing hazards from the “Fowl Play” deck. Routes are shared between players, which sometimes forces cooperation—but in the end, it’s still a race to win.

The artwork deserves a special mention too. The illustrated bird cards and map give the game a warm and inviting personality. It’s the kind of title that works perfectly as a family game while still offering enough strategy for hobbyists. Buy the game here and watch the how to play video.
Final Thoughts
What I loved most about these three games is how different they felt, despite all being easy to learn. Dice Duelo delivers tense, bluffing-driven duels. Tank Clash blends charm with tactical depth. Fly-A-Way adds a meaningful environmental theme on top of clever gameplay.

Together, they highlight exactly what makes TableCon Quest 2025 such a great event—the chance to discover hidden gems you might never find otherwise. Whether you’re new to board games or a seasoned player, it’s the perfect place to sit down, explore, and fall in love with fresh experiences.
