-Finally, we got our hands on the latest GAMING PHONE from the ASUS ROG franchise. Allow me to introduce you to our Malaysian version of the phone, ASUS ROG PHONE 2!!!!! We’ve been trying to mess around with the phone, and we are glad to tell you that, GOD DAMN THIS PHONE. IT’S ALL MOBILE GAMER’S DREAM! So, lets jump into this.

Asus ROG Phone 2 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ Octa Core, which is the best that you can get in the market. Comparing this phone to the other top-notch gaming phone it’s a breeze. With the highest clock speed at 2.96Hz, you will feel the difference.

Asus ROG Phone 2 packs with the Adreno 405, which also another one of the best graphic chipsets for phones available on the market right now. You don’t need to worry any forms or lags nor delays (well unless it’s a cellular or internet issue) during your gameplay experience with the phone. Supporting this GPU will be the LPDDR4x 12GB RAM. Not forgetting there will also be up to 1TB ROM that will be available for the ultimate version with the support of UFS 3.0 but the normal edition will only have 512GB.

With the latest gaming focus features, Asus also installed a whopping 120 Hz for the screen where you can see more frames for each angle you move. This is another main highlights that Asus is selling their ROG Phone 2. With the 120 Hz on your phone, you should be performing 40% better than the norm. Other than the static hertz, Asus ROG Phone 2 also allows users to adjust the refresh rate to your comfort. There are experiences where players get nauseated when there are too much frames per second, but it’s quite a niche amount of people actually suffering from this cause.

Gaming phone nowadays all comes with the 240Hz touch sampling and of course ROG Phone II comes with it as well. This touch sampling enhances your touch towards the screen and the screen can read and track your movements faster.

      Checkout our gameplay right here!

Awesome to see how we won the games right.

With Call of Duty: Mobile, we were able to get a very clean refresh rate (although the max was capped at 60Hz) that pleases our eyes with each frame being shown better than a normal phone. Asus also pushes the boundary of their previous functions like the Air Trigger functionality. We covered it before so be sure to check them out! Other than that, within your phone, you can also get a triple layered cooling in which we also covered last time. These 2 functions actually made our gaming experience better in a thousand way. I personally loved the Air Trigger so much that I’m kind of hooked to it. With their latest cooling formula. The phone does not feel any hot in the general area but only near the vents. I tried gaming for a continuous 4 hours and only the vent area was getting a bit warm. Coming along with the amazing refresh rate comes with the amazing AMOLED 10-bit HDR Delta-E < 1 Display. The colour accuracy within for all needs are very good as well.

Battery volume is another highlight for the Asus ROG Phone 2. Asus packed a 6000mAh phone that allows you to game and do your mobile activities to the MAX! The phone lasted 2-3 days with only minimal usage for communicating and social media purposes. This is incredible! Coming towards the charging part, Asus ROG Phone 2 also comes with 2 USB Type-C which one is at the bottom, and the other one is located at the left of the body with a dust protector. The comfort of not having my hand making an opening for the wire to go through when I’m gaming on my phone was so satisfying~ With the new trends of speed charging, ROG Phone 2 also have their own HyperCharge that they included for speedy charging. It features a 30W direct charging with a universal 3A cable and Quick Charge 4.0.

With the design of the phone, the speakers for the phone is also designed at the front of phone. This helps the user to have a clearer and more comfortable grip with the phone. The speaker features a DTS:X Ultra which will enhance the volume up to 2.5x.

A gaming phone will not be perfect with the lacking design for noise cancellation mics and multi-antenna located each side of the phone. There will be 4 mics located in different positions and antenna that will designed for best portrait and landscape gaming needs. The connectivity can handle up to 4.6 Gbps and an ultrafast 802.11ad connectivity, providing them the lower interface of 60GHz and a 3 ms latency.

Other than the battery, the phone comes with a few things.

      • Aero Case for the phone
      • Charger
      • Headphones
      • Manual
      • Awesome Prism designed packaging
      • AeroActive Cooler 2

The AeroActive Cooler II have the assistance up to 5 degree lower surface temperature with the impressive 24dBA noise level.

The amazing part of the phone has just come. Like the older version, ROG Phone 2 also comes with the Armory Crate application where it allows you to customize your RGB LIGHTING for the ROG logo at the back.

And to design custom profiles for each game. The profile can adjust the following settings,

      • Fan Speed
      • Aura RGB lighting effect
      • AirTriggers customization
      • CPU Performance
      • Touch Sensitivity
      • Refresh Rate

There is also another function called GAME GENIE. This function allows shortcuts to acces the Armory Crate functions and also some additional features as such,

      • No Alerts
      • No Calls
      • Real-time Information
      • Lock Brightness

Other than the gaming features, the ROG Phone 2 have amazing cameras for both front and rear. At the front camera, it features a 24MP/4C camera optimized for game streaming. The rear camera features a 48MP primary camera and 13MP secondary camera. There nothing to highlight as they brought up the IMX586 Sony Flagship chipset from their other phone into this. The secondary camera will be able to assist up to a 125 degree of ultrawide view.

With their complains from ROG Phone, ROG Phone 2 will have a customizable user interface for you to find your comfort browsing your phone.

With the basic phone introductory done, we will now approach to the accessories that you can buy separately or together with the phone. We are proud to present the entire line of accessories for the ASUS ROG PHONE 2, BEHOLD, THE ALL AND MIGHTY SUPPORTS THAT WILL SERVE THE OVERLORD!

The accessories are one of a kind within the global market. Asus with their push on a mobile console gaming concept is pretty amazing.

First, we got the Twin View Dock II that will make your dual monitor fetish come to live. This Dual monitor acts differently for each screen. It is very simple on how you can dock it, remember to lock it or the screen won’t work. At the location where you docked the phone, there are also fans oscillating under the phone to replace the need of the extended cooler. The second screen features a 120Hz Touch display same as the actual phone. With the additional compartment, the TwinView Dock II also gives a 5000mAh battery.

Secondly is the DT Dock. This is a good concept from the Asus team where the usage of the phone can be tremendously transforming to a emulator like with the assistance of a keyboard and mouse.

Third will be the WiGig Display Dock Plus. In the Asus ROG Phone 2, there’s a function named WiGig. This allows you to connect to the device which will then display whatever is on your phone towards a monitor or TV. Pretty sweet isn’t it?

Talking about gaming, of course Asus designed a console like controller for the phone. There will be a Kunai Gamepad designed I would say highly inspired from the Nintendo Switch designs but not entirely. The Kunai can be inserted to a controller like holder. You can use the phone and connect to the controller via Bluetooth. Another way of using the controller is like a game pad. When you purchase the Kunai Gamepad, it comes with a case where it is connecting your phone with a USB Type-C located at the bottom of your phone. After that you can slot the two separated controllers in to each side of the phone. If you had liked the gamepad from the other brands, this would suit you right away. Though a little complain I would put here would be that the buttons are a bit rigid.

The Kunai Gamepad also allows the combination with the other accessories like putting the phone with the Kunai attached towards the sides of the phone and the TwinView Dock II together can bring you a similar feel to a handheld console. With the WiGig connected, it can stimulate a console like feeling as well! Other than using the DT Dock for mouse and keyboard, you can also connect them with the gamepad.

      Insert pictures from slides

Other than the normal casing, there will be a Lightning Armor Case that you can purchase. This case will also be partial illuminating at the same location as the Asus ROG logo at the back of the phone.

With the mention of 2 version, here’s the details with the phone,

      • ROG Phone II Elite Version at a price of RM3,499
