Idea Factory International has officially confirmed that Ariana and the Elder Codex will release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch on March 24, 2026. The action platformer will also arrive on PC via Steam in Spring 2026. Console versions will be available both physically and digitally in North America and Europe. Meanwhile, the Steam version will include English and Japanese voiceovers, along with English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese subtitles. Console releases will feature English voiceovers and English subtitles.
A Magical Adventure Through the Library

Developed by Idea Factory, Compile Heart, and HYDE, Ariana and the Elder Codex places players in the role of Ariana, a librarian tasked with restoring the Seven Hero Codices after magic mysteriously disappears from the land. Using Librarian magic, Ariana enters the altered books themselves, repairing their contents and uncovering the causes behind the Library’s disruption.
Gameplay emphasizes platforming and combat within each Codex. Players face enemies and challenges unique to each book, while completing Repair Points rewards progression and permanent stat boosts. This system encourages players to improve efficiency and speed in their runs. Ariana can equip and customize more than 30 magic spells and abilities across six slots, allowing players to experiment with different approaches to combat and exploration.
Bosses, Crafting, and Customization

The game also features challenging boss encounters, serving as major checkpoints that test timing, movement, and resource management. In addition, players can craft and equip Magic Items to modify stats and gain buffs, including elemental effects, increased critical hit rates, and reduced knockback. These mechanics are designed to complement diverse playstyles, letting players tailor Ariana’s abilities and equipment to their preferred strategy.
Expanded Website and Updated Materials

Alongside the release date announcement, Idea Factory International has refreshed the game’s official website. Updated character and system pages provide a closer look at the Library’s inhabitants and gameplay mechanics, while ESRB-rated box art has also been revealed.

Ariana and the Elder Codex promises to deliver an engaging single-player experience for fans of action platformers, combining fast-paced combat, platforming challenges, and deep customization. The March 24, 2026 console launch, along with the upcoming Steam release in Spring 2026, ensures players across platforms can dive into Ariana’s magical journey.
