After teasing that the game would be coming to more consoles than initially announced, we finally have more details about the upcoming Demon Slayer: Hinokami Kepuutan.

As many speculated upon hearing CyberConnect2 would be involved, the game is an arena fighter, not unlike the Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm series. It features 2v2 fights and full 3d movement, rather than the traditional back and forth of non-arena fighters.

They showed off the game’s gameplay during a special livestream, where the voice actors for Tanjiro and Zenitsu, Natsuki Hanai and Hiro Shimono respectively. The build of the game they showed was just for demo purposes, and had a much smaller roster than the full game would have when it launches.

The demo showed off Tanjiro, Inosuke, Nezuko, Zenitsu and Giyu. Players pick a team of two, similar to tag fighters like Marvel vs Capcom or Blazblue Cross Tag Battle. These characters can be tagged in for assists , but will be vulnerable to attack if used incorrectly.

Given the game’s free-form movement, this adds a whole extra risk, and should see Demon Slayer fans engaged as they try to take out their opponents teams of two.

This is part of the game’s Tag Battle Mode, which as the name implies is a versus mode featuring 2v2 fights. On top of that, the game would also have a story mode, though no details have been given on that yet. Given how close it is to the Naruto games, its safe to assume that it will be a retelling of the anime, similar to the Ultimate Ninja storm series.

Demon Slayer: Hinokami Kepuutan has no confirmed release date as of yet, though it will be coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC.
