7-Eleven Japan unveils charming new anime ad

Japan has once again made people outside the nation jealous with an enchanting hand-drawn animated web commercial from 7-Eleven.

Titled Tokimeki wa, Sugu Soba ni (What Makes Your Heart Thrill is Right Nearby), the ad features noteworthy industry names. The Answer Studio, which assisted in animation production in Makoto Shinkai’s Your Name, animated the commercial. Character designs were done by award-winning mangaka Shiina Karuho, creator of Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You.

The ad also features the song “Day Dream Believers” by yama. Voice actress Haruka Fukuhara is the narrator and voice of the ad’s protagonist, Nanami. Previously, she acted in the live-action version of Kakegurui.

With the theme of “the precious meetings and joys that exist in your everyday life”, the commercial is set around a 7-Eleven convenience store that serves as bridge which brings people together. 7-Eleven Japan has certainly set the bar for other branches around the world, both in terms of the quality of their convenience stores as well as their commercials.
