With the Fire Emblem Heroes legendary banner featuring Hel just ended, some of you Summoners might’ve managed to summon her but have no idea what builds to give her. Fret not, this guide will showcase some of the potential builds that you might be able to run!
5 Star Level 40 Base Stats:
- HP: 40
- ATK: 38
- SPD: 41
- DEF: 30
- RES: 18
As you can see, Hel has a pretty decent stat spread with a base stat of 41 in Speed while a base 30 in Defense but on the flip side, she has poor HP and Resistance.
Her low Resistance stat might prove to be problematic in the current meta where we can see an abundance of hard hitting mages dominating the PVP scene such as Fallen Julia and Lysithea both of which are strong red mage nukes who also have the weapons triangle advantage over Hel.
But regardless, with the proper positioning and teammates, Hel can avoid these banes that might threaten her.
Hel’s Reaper (Mt: 16, Rng: 1)
- Accelerates Special trigger (cooldown count -1). Neutralizes “effective against flying” bonuses. If foe does not use magic or staff, calculates damage using foe’s Res, and if unit’s HP > 1 and foe would reduce unit’s HP to 0, unit survives with 1 HP. (Once per combat. Does not stack).
Luna ( Cooldown 3)
- Treat’s foe’s Def/Res as if reduced by 50% during combat.
Distant Counter
- Unit can counterattack regardless of foe’s range.
Guard Bearing 3
- During unit’s first combat in enemy phase, if foe initiates combat, reduces from foe’s first attack by 50%.
Inevitable Death
- Inflicts Atk/Spd/Def/Res -4 on foes within 2 spaces during combat.
Hel’s Reaper is definitely an interesting weapon for Hel since not only does it lowers Hel’s cooldown Special by 1 but she also has a Miracle built into her weapon provided that she isn’t facing off against a magic or staff unit meaning that as long as she isn’t facing off against a magic/staff user, she’ll be able to live at 1 HP if the damaging blow were to kill her.
Not only that, she’s also able to target the foe’s Resistance instead of Defense provided if they’re not a magic/staff user. This can be really useful since non-magic users typically don’t have high Resistance, so that means Hel might potentially K.O. her foes a bit easier.
For her slot A skill, Distant Counter is always nice to have on a unit if that means that Hel can counterattack regardless of the range. Meanwhile for Guard Bearing 3, it’s also a pretty decent skill to have for a flier unit since she’s able to tank more damage on the first round of the enemy phase.
Her unique slot C skill, Inevitable Death is pretty strong as it reduces all of the enemy’s stats within 2 spaces during combat and with conjunction with Guard Bearing, Hel has a higher chance to kill off foes on the first round of the enemy phase.
– Budget Aether Raids Build –
This budget build pretty much just includes the Guidance 3 Sacred Seal and her Assist skill can be swapped out according to personally preferences and team composition.
By giving her Guidance 3 Sacred Seal, this allows Infantry and Armor units to move around Hel with better ease since movement plays a huge factor in Aether Raids due to the limited amount of turns per battle. It allows the opposition to be caught off guard if they don’t check skills.
Another Sacred Seal option would be any suitable Bond Sacred Seals such as Spd/Res Bond 3 which capitalizes both on her high Speed stat and patch up her low Resistance stat. Since Hel normally would have an ally unit next to her consistently due to her being a Wings of Mercy anchor as well as her Slot C skill, she can take advantage on the buffs the Bond seals provide.
– Annoying Tank Build –
With the combination of Quickened Pulse and her weapon’s passive -1 cooldown to Specials, Aegis once a 3 cooldown skill will now be a 1 cooldown Special and when paired up with Guard Bearing, she’s able to tank quite a lot of incoming damage in the first enemy phase as well as the other turns.
But that pretty much all this build does, it’s not particularly a good build but it sure as hell annoying to deal with without the proper counters.
– High Budget Build –
This build is a rather unique one since it drops Distant Counter for Fortress Def/Res 3 but there’s a reason behind decision.
With the inclusion of both Fort Def/Res 3 and Deflect Magic 3 Sacred Seal, this can make Hel a better mage tank than before since these two combination makes Hel have a better chance at surviving against enemy mages who doubles Hel.
With Fort Def/Res 3 throwing away 2 Attack stat for an additional +6 to both Defense and Resistance and Deflect Magic 3 reducing the second attack onward by 80% from magic attacks, this can make Hel undeniably better at eating up magical attacks compared to previously.
And Ignis is swapped out with Luna for a harder hitting Special since Hel’s attack is lowered.

- Kliff
- Iduun
- Mirabilis
Overall, Hel has a really solid base set of skills with her personal weapon and skills. Since her weapon practically has a conditional Miracle built in, she can be a really good anchor unit for any Wings of Mercy allies to swoop in and seal the deal after being damaged by Hel. Her C slot skill also makes Hel a great front-line unit since the debuff that Inevitable Death gives also benefits her allies, and by pairing it up with her B slot skill, it further solidifies her tanking capability.
The only downsides are that since she’s a Mythical Unit, you can’t slap on other blessings to boost her stats according to the seasons. Her HP is pretty low as well which can be annoying especially in Aether Raids when the Bolt Tower is always present in this game mode. A level 7 Bolt Tower can bring her down to 1 HP without any combat so that makes her tank skills completely useless. That and well, Mages exists.
With her advantages outweighing her disadvantages, Hel is definitely a great unit and a worthy investment to invest upon.
