The APEX 2020 has carried on vivo’s exploration and pursuit of a truly FullView Display and Super Unibody design; see the 6.45-inch curved display bending up to 120° on both sides, removing side edges and bezels from the front view for an ultra bezel-less display. For both aesthetic and practical considerations, physical buttons are replaced with virtual pressure-sensing buttons. The APEX 2020 is truly a perfect fusion of visual effect, natural touch and human-device interaction.

Moving on to the In-Display camera, it showcases the new possibility of a non-mechanical front camera, an “invisible” front camera presenting a Super Unibody design with no openings and expands internal space. Thanks to innovation in screen pixel layout and circuit design, the APEX 2020 has successfully increased the light transmittance of the screen right above the camera up to 6 times of the other part of the screen, effectively reducing optical interference, diffraction and stray flashes through a series of algorithm optimizations for improving photography quality.

The final image likewise goes through a series of algorithm optimizations. The 16MP front camera has a 4-in-1 super-pixel photosensitive chip, realizing the innovation of capturing clear images with the In-Display Camera.

Almost high magnification zoom solutions currently in the industry depend on hybrid zoom. Different fixed magnifications need to be integrated with digital algorithms for output, thus compromising resolution and image quality. With the APEX 2020’s Continuous Optical Zoom, it is the first in the world to do so, and can produce high resolution and quality images under high magnifications between 5x – 7.5x. Users can preserve the clarity of all moments!

The “4-group lens combination” in the APEX 2020 consists of two fixed and two movable groups, achieving high-magnification continuous zoom and real-time focus. The periscope structure support means the entire module is only 6.2mm thick, making it possible for a professional-grade lens to be incorporated into the APEX’s ultra-thin body. With multi-frame algorithm, image quality can be even further enhanced and enables easier captures of farther scenery.

5G’s arrival means smartphone video content can only become a bigger priority. To fulfill such a need, vivo has successfully embedded a gimbal-like structure into the APEX 2020’s main camera, a result of long-term technical development and multiple experiments. Optical stabilization is achieved in the front-back, left-right inclined directions with enhanced performance. Through lab tests, it has been shown to have 200% extended stabilization angle. Image integrity gets preserved to an even greater extent.

Such a feature greatly reduces blurring caused by shaky hands. Videography can be done smoothly, without requiring other equipment. Stable handheld shooting also effectively extends exposure time, so the APEX 2020 can double up with strong capacity for night photography.

Last but not least is the revolutionary vivo Wireless Super FlashCharge 60W in the APEX 2020, able to recharge a handset of 2000mAh in just 20 minutes for faster charging than conventional wired flash charging.
