Torchlight Frontiers delayed to 2020

Torchlight Frontiers has been delayed to 2020, Max Schaefer reveals in an interview with PC Gamer. The game was announced at Gamescom 2018, departing from the hack-and-slash formula to a more “shared, persistent, dynamically generated world”. It will be in the same universe as the previous Torchlight games.

The official website, at time of writing, still states a 2019 release date. No particular reasons were given for the delay, with Schaefer merely stating, “We don’t have really specific things to say.” Changes are being made, and no information is available yet. We can probably expect a big news dump at a later date.

Frontiers will feature base-building. Players will be able to construct a fort equipped with stations to improve skills, gear and to decorate to show off to others. Shrines, pet stables and more are also promised.

There will be classes of course. The Forge and Dusk Mage were the initial reveals, with a Railmaster joining the ranks. There will be “Horizontal Progression”, for the “ultimate flexibility and adaptability”. Tools, mixing and matching abilities/passives, pets and more are to be included too.

Last but not least, are seasonal contracts. Exclusive contract rewards and Fame are yours to collect should you take up the job. At any rate, we’ll have to wait for more information regarding the delay.
