If you are a fan of fighting games, you must have heard of King of Fighters at some point. It is a pretty popular fighting game from the early ages of video games. And now, Netmarble has brought this sweet memory into a side-scrolling fighting RPG for all of you to enjoy! Check out their latest trailer here!

During Pre-load

At the start of the game, you will be thrown into a tutorial.
You play as a bug within a system, called a Tuner who can engage in battle with the enemy in person.
The KOF characters are a bug that is synchable with you and you will have to control them in order to prevent more bugs from happening within the system.
You’ll control a character who can block to reduce damage, 2 activatable skills and one ultimate skill that can be triggered when your power is fully charged.

After that you get to choose from 3 different characters:

• Kyo Kusanagi
• Ryo Sakazaki
• Terry Bogard

Each character has their own respective leader skill, character skills and ultimate skill. In this case, I chose Kyo. I like his design and his personality, and his flame controlling attacks. All the characters’ skill will be shown within their own profile when you own them.

You can also customize your own team later in the game. Here’s my team!

If you see the characters below the large character banners, those are strikers, they will provide assist skills.

Your game is first set in the year 1994, in the midst of a fight without even knowing what is happening. Suddenly, a girl falls down and you transform. The main gameplay starts here.

Within a stage, you can see your progress, items you obtained, active fighter’s information other than than the ones that were taught in the tutorial.

After the 3 progress pips shown on top, a boss will be at the end of the level. You only need to defeat the boss to clear the level.

After finishing the level, you will be rewarded for first level clears, side objectives for the level and All Clear for the level and some items. Each character you deployed will gain EXP as well as your Account Rank! When your Account Rank is increased, you will get rewards in gems and AP while having your AP recharge. AP is Action Points, which will reduce every time you enter a level.

There will be a Growth Mission for play and get rewards to help you progress. Daily missions, achievement, events and repeating missions for players to clear and get rewards. Each character will be recorded in the codex, and all of them will give you a reward for Growth and having a themed team featured in their character codex like below:

Like the current trend of games, there is also a login bonus for you to collect each day. As of now, the game will be having a Launch Login Celebration Bonus, so it is the best time to start and collect all those goodies! Since there’s a pre-register campaign, there will also be more rewards for you players! There’s also a Launch Celebration Roulette Event. If you get the same item 3 times in a row showed in the BINGO window, you will get a bonus item other than the one you rolled. If you are a member of Amazon Prime, you will get another extra 10 bonus summon ticket for signing in your Amazon account!

GACHA GACHA GACHAAAA. Here we have the Gacha part of the game. You can either use tickets to summon fighters or battle cards. If you summon now, a normal 10x Summon would cost you 900 Rubies, but there’s a limited summon for you to re-roll until you get the character you want!

Do take note that there are multiple versions for each character differentiated by their year featured at the bottom right of the icon of the character. If you summon from the normal banner, there will be a mileage bar to a max of 300 times. If you manage to summon until the end, you will be rewarded with a fighter selector ticket!

In terms of shops, you will have 3 different shops,

• Recommended Items
  • A Free Daily Special Package
  • Bundles that can be purchased by players with cash
• Secret Shop
  • Uses Rubies
• Topaz Shop
  • Topaz can be obtained additionally only when purchasing Rubies

You can use the different currencies to buy items in different shop.

A few thing to take note when playing this game.

• Preferably don’t have pop-ups when you are playing
• Don’t tab away if you are in a battle

These will cause you to disconnect and go back to the title screen.

Overall, the game is pretty fun, I enjoyed seeing my favorite Mai Shinranui from the King of Fighter franchise being in the game. Although I didn’t manage to try all of the game content, it is still pretty good! The rewards up until now has been very generous.
