PMCO SEA League 2019 has gone live in China with 24 top PUBG Mobile teams from Southeast Asia competing for a ticket to the PMCO 2019 SEA League Grand Finals. A total of 5 teams including Team Secret, Yoodo Gank, Victorious In Play, Junior Talent and AROV Esports are representing Malaysia for the tournament. We are fortunate to have an interview with Team Secret, Yoodo Gank and Victorious In Play, so here is a compilation on the interviews.

Team Secret

Previously Team Genexus, the team has signed a contract under Team Secret after the Malaysia final of PMCO. As the contract is only signed last month, the team is yet to receive support for their eSports journey and many things are still in preparation including their training, which is 3 to 6 hours per day.

We asked whether their family support them to become professional eSports players, all the Team Secret members tell us that their family understands their decisions and have found a way to help them chase their dreams. BiuBiu also shared his thoughts about the eSports industry in Malaysia, saying that eSports in Malaysia has been improving a lot these few years with a lot of tournaments being held every month.

Yoodo GANK

All the team members in Yoodo GANK are currently working, so their training times are only about 3 hours per day after work. Most of their families are supportive of what they are persuading, while JimBoy’s family couldn’t understand him yet. However, JimBoy tells us that he will try his best to make his family proud of him.

On their thoughts about the eSports industry in Malaysia, they could see that Malaysia is making a lot of effort to improve eSports as the Ministry of Youth and Sports even have plans to train future Malaysia eSports representatives. They also hope that the internet speed and coverage in Malaysia could be improved furthermore, and there will be more training place provided for those who wish to get professional training.

Victorious In Play (VIP)

We are surprised that except Hyqul who is a semi-professional eSports player, all of VIP members are joining the eSports industry as a full-time player. They contact each other often to manage their training time, but they will still train at least 21 hours per week.

We asked the same question about whether their families are supportive, and we are glad that all of them gets 100% support from their families. Of course, they also promise that they will do their best to win the tournament and make Malaysia proud.

Becoming a full-time eSports player or joining the eSports industry is not easy, but with the support from their families, friends and fans, they can focus on what they are doing and do their best to achieve their dream. Let’s wish them good luck in the following weeks of PMCO SEA League 2019!
