Just Cause 4 is less than a month away and December 4th could not come any sooner. We managed to get an interview with Francesco Antolini, the director of Just Cause 4, to share with us some details on the game.

Map Size

First, based on side-by-side measurements, the map in Just Cause 4 has the same size as the map in the prequel. This means that the map is the same 1034 square meters big. However, the land mass in Just Cause 4 is much bigger. The development team opted for a single land mass instead of a collection of islands. Set in the fictional South American country, Solis, players will be able to explore more on a single huge land mass.

Weather Effects

Next, different weathers will give a different experience to the players. For example, the tornado in game will make the area a no go for enemies, otherwise they will get sucked up. The tornado featured in the game will not be just a story element. It will appear in some special operations but will also appear as part of the world for players to have fun with. To complement this, everything with dynamic geometry can be lifted into the air. This means that players can have a lot of fun with the tornado.

On the other hand, weathers like sandstorms will reduce visibility, preventing enemies from using launchers or snipers properly. The reduced visibility allows players to easily sneak up on enemies for stealth kills. In exchange, air movement becomes extremely difficult due to strong winds.

Grappling hook

Furthermore, players will receive a completely customisable grappling hook coming with three attachments. Players have full control on the attachments, allowing them to set details such as deployment procedure and hook strength. Additionally, each attachment can be given four to five additional modifiers.

Multiplayer mode

Unfortunately, there are no plans to include a multiplayer mode for Just Cause 4. Francesco Antonili explained that the development team wanted to give players a fantastic single player experience. The addition of a multiplayer mode would have compromised the game’s overall quality or push back the release date.
