There’s more to just playing the game and if you noticed, your own level in Azur Lane is equally as important as your shipgirls’ if not more so. Being at a higher level means that the rate of coin and fuel gained every hour will be just as high.
More importantly however, is the fact that you will gain access to higher level daily missions, which is your source for powerups.
Upon reaching level 70, you gain access to Tier 3 skill books and Tier 4 equipment boxes. While you will be able to get your shipgirls to their max level much earlier, not having the best equipment would essentially bottleneck them.
With all said and done, it is in your best interest to get your player level to 70 at the very least as soon as possible.
Player EXP gain explanation
As with the previous shipgirl leveling guide, let us look at how EXP is calculated, this time for the player. The EXP you gain is dependent on the level of the enemy in the map and how many vessels are in the battle. To cut to the chase, to maximise EXP gain, farm a map that is within 20 levels of your current level and use as many shipgirls as you can. Of course, using a full fleet will deplete your fuel quickly, so let us work around that.
The method
This is a variation on the shipgirl leveling method, in which you two carries to clear the maps, while being accompanied by low-cost shipgirls. The idea is to use common tier destroyers as they only require 1 fuel per battle while also granting you bonus EXP per battle. If you are feeling generous, you can add a common carrier to the main fleet for even more bonus EXP.
Where to farm
You can start off by heading to 3-2 until you are at about level 46. You are able to also farm the best dive bombers here too, so take as much time as you need. If you are feeling lucky, head over to 3-3 and stay there until you hit level 52. The good drops here include Akagi and Kaga, on top of the F4U fighter plane and repair tools. 4-2 is another good spot, as the drops are are fairly decent too, not to mention the fact that it is easier than 3-4. You can head over to 5-1 whenever you are ready and farm here until you hit level 67. There is the super rare destroyer gun here, in addition to Helena, Brooklyn and Phoenix, three of whom you will need to unlock Wichita.
Viability
As usual, you will want to adopt a defensive formation as your biggest threats are from bombers so switch to circular defense to boost your AA stats. Of course, if you have decent equipment and can survive the battle, just use single line to clear the map faster.
