The news was revealed during the official live broadcast “Granblue Fantasy Live: Welcome to Midsummer Showtime Special,” which streamed on August 8, 2026, from the Granblue Fantasy Extra Fes 2026 venue in Osaka. During the broadcast, Cygames showed off Yoh Asakura’s character design made specifically for the Granblue Fantasy universe. The design keeps him true to his appearance from the 2021 anime revival, showing the laid-back shaman alongside his spirit partner, Amidamaru. The reveal was met with loud cheers from fans in the live audience.
The collaboration was also reported by Japanese gaming outlets Famitsu and Dengeki Online, both of which confirmed the January launch date. Cygames has not yet shared specifics on how the event will play out, including gameplay mechanics, whether more Shaman King characters will be added, or what rewards Granblue Fantasy players can expect.
The publisher has said more information will be released as the launch date gets closer. Fans of both franchises will likely be keeping an eye out for further updates in the coming months as Cygames prepares to roll out the event.
