Epic Games Publishing and genDESIGN have officially announced gen ATLAS, their new single-player open-world action-adventure game. The reveal was made during Summer Game Fest 2026, with the game heading to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via the Epic Games Store. gen ATLAS is the latest project from Fumito Ueda, the creator behind ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian. Epic Games Publishing is on board as the game’s publisher.
The project was previously known under the codename Project Robot, which was first teased back in 2024. Summer Game Fest 2026 revealed the game’s official title along with a new trailer that offered a closer look at gameplay.

In the game, players wake up on an abandoned planet without knowing why. The world is described as vast and silent, filled with colossal structures spread across open plains, empty facilities, and a shifting sea. The remains of what appears to be some kind of large-scale construction are scattered across the planet’s surface.
As players explore further, they encounter a giant robot whose power helps unlock areas that were previously out of reach. The game’s description hints at forgotten constructs beginning to stir again after a long period of time. The Epic Games Store page for gen ATLAS is already live, though a release date has not been announced.
