Developer Crema has officially announced Temtem: Pioneers, a new open-world survival crafting adventure set in the Temtem universe. The game is currently in development for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, with a console release also being considered, although no platforms have been confirmed beyond PC. A Kickstarter campaign has also been launched to support development.
A Major Genre Shift for the Temtem Franchise

Temtem: Pioneers represents a significant departure from the original Temtem experience, moving away from traditional turn-based combat in favor of open-world survival mechanics and real-time action gameplay. Instead of the structured competitive format seen in earlier entries, players are now dropped into a vast and untamed region known as the Downbelow.
This new frontier emphasizes exploration, survival, and creativity, while still maintaining the franchise’s core identity centered around creature companionship and collection.
The Downbelow: A Dangerous New Frontier

The Downbelow is described as a massive, unpredictable open world filled with resources to gather, environments to survive, and new Temtem species to discover. Players will need to craft equipment, build shelters, and adapt to shifting environmental conditions as they push deeper into unexplored regions.
Wild Temtem roam freely across the landscape, creating dynamic encounters that influence both survival and progression. Each biome introduces unique materials, threats, and traversal opportunities, encouraging experimentation and long-term exploration.
Real-Time Combat and Direct Temtem Control

One of the biggest gameplay changes in Temtem: Pioneers is its transition to real-time combat. Players can now directly control their Temtem in battle, bringing up to three creatures into active combat and switching between them instantly.
Combat emphasizes fast decision-making, ability chaining, dodging, and combo creation. Each Temtem offers distinct abilities and playstyles, making mastery of different species a key part of progression and survival.
Survival, Building, and Cooperative Play

Beyond combat, Temtem play a crucial role in survival mechanics. They assist with resource gathering, traversal, and base defense, reinforcing the bond between player and creature.
Players will also be able to experience the game solo or in cooperative multiplayer. Co-op play allows teams to build settlements together, explore dangerous regions, and discover new Temtem species as a group, expanding both strategic and social gameplay possibilities.
Over 200 Temtem and Expanded Exploration Systems

Temtem: Pioneers will feature over 200 Temtem species, including both newly introduced creatures native to the Downbelow and familiar species returning in new environments. Each Temtem contributes differently to survival, whether through combat abilities, traversal skills, or resource gathering support.
The game also introduces multiple playstyles, allowing players to focus on exploration, combat strategy, settlement building, or companionship-focused progression.
Kickstarter Campaign Now Live
Alongside the announcement, Crema has launched a Kickstarter campaign to support ongoing development of Temtem: Pioneers. The studio has also indicated that console versions are being discussed, though it is currently too early to confirm platforms beyond PC.
With its shift into survival crafting and real-time combat, Temtem: Pioneers marks one of the most ambitious reinventions of the franchise to date, aiming to blend creature collection with large-scale open-world survival systems.
