Publisher ININ Games and developer YS NET have officially unveiled Shenmue III Enhanced, releasing the game’s debut trailer and screenshots alongside new details about what players can expect from this updated version of Yu Suzuki’s adventure game. Pre-orders for physical editions have also gone live, though an exact release date has not been confirmed yet.
The game is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. Physical editions will include a full game copy, with Switch 2 buyers getting a full game card. Shenmue III Enhanced brings a number of visual and performance improvements to the original game. These include sharper 4K textures, faster load times, smoother gameplay, and support for DLSS and FSR upscaling technologies. The city of Niaowu will also feel busier, with more NPCs populating its streets.
Beyond the technical side, the Enhanced Edition adds several quality-of-life options. Players can now skip cutscenes and conversations, enjoy a wider QTE timing window, and access adjustments to the stamina system and money requirements to make progression smoother. A classic camera mode inspired by Shenmue I & II is also available as an option alongside the modern view. Importantly, all of these changes can be toggled on or off, meaning players who want the original experience can keep things as they were.

Three physical editions are available for pre-order. The standard physical edition includes a copy of the game. The Special Edition steps things up with the game, a Blu-ray disc titled A Gamer’s Journey: The Definitive History of Shenmue, The Making of Shenmue III Enhanced art book, and a special box.

The Collector’s Edition is the most packed of the three. It includes a copy of the game with an exclusive cover and manual, a 15-centimeter Ryo Hazuki training figure, a wooden scroll and keychain, an art print bundle featuring an A2-size poster, sticker sheet, Kung Fu cards, and a Shikishi board. It also comes with the A Gamer’s Journey Blu-ray disc, the Shenmue III Enhanced art book, and a collector’s box.
Shenmue III Enhanced is described as the most refined way to play the game, aimed at both returning fans and first-time players.
