Limited Run Games has teamed up with Marvel Games and Konami to announce MARVEL MaXimum Collection. The retro compilation is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The companies have not shared a release date yet.
The collection brings together 13 classic Marvel titles from arcades, home consoles, and handheld systems. It focuses on comic-to-console adaptations from the 8-bit and 16-bit eras. Limited Run Games describes it as a celebration of Marvel’s early gaming legacy, rebuilt for modern hardware.
Arcade Icons and 16-Bit Favorites Return

Leading the lineup is X-Men: The Arcade Game, the legendary six-player beat ’em up. Players can jump online with rollback netcode support and team up against Magneto’s forces. The arcade experience remains intact, but modern online functionality makes it easier to gather a full squad.
The package also includes Captain America and The Avengers. Players can choose between the arcade version and its SEGA Genesis / Mega Drive and Nintendo Entertainment System counterparts. Each version offers its own gameplay feel and presentation style.

Fans of 16-bit action will recognize Spider-Man/Venom: Maximum Carnage and Venom/Spider-Man: Separation Anxiety. The collection includes both Super Nintendo Entertainment System and SEGA Genesis / Mega Drive versions. Players can compare visual styles, soundtracks, and gameplay differences.
Another highlight is Spider-Man/X-Men: Arcade’s Revenge, available across Super Nintendo, Genesis / Mega Drive, Game Boy, and Game Gear. The notoriously difficult Silver Surfer for Nintendo Entertainment System also joins the lineup. Its fast-paced shooting and iconic soundtrack remain a true test of skill.
Modern Features and Archival Content

MARVEL MaXimum Collection adds several quality-of-life upgrades. Players can use rewind and save state features to overcome tough sections. Display filters let users switch between sharp modern visuals and CRT-style effects.
The collection also includes a digital archive. Players can browse high-resolution scans of original box art, manuals, and vintage ads. A built-in music player allows fans to enjoy classic chip-tune soundtracks from every included version.

Cheat menus and a museum mode round out the feature set. These additions give players more control over how they experience each title.
A Comprehensive Marvel Retro Package

MARVEL MaXimum Collection goes beyond a simple re-release. It gathers multiple versions of each game and preserves the differences between platforms. That approach gives longtime fans a nostalgic return while introducing newer players to Marvel’s early gaming era.
Limited Run Games aims to deliver a definitive retro package for Marvel fans. More details, including pricing and a release window, will arrive at a later date.
