Slay the Princess has officially sold over one million copies, developer Black Tabby Games announced this week. The milestone follows the release of The Pristine Cut on consoles and PC, marking a major achievement for the studio’s breakout horror visual novel.
Co-creators Tony Howard-Arias and Abby Howard shared a letter with fans reflecting on the milestone. They emphasized how challenging it can be to succeed in a genre that often gets overlooked. “Reaching one million sales alongside strong critical and audience reception was something we previously thought impossible,” the developers wrote, expressing gratitude for the support from players.

A Unique Horror Experience

The game first launched on PC before expanding to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Players step into a narrative-driven story where they must kill a princess trapped in a remote cabin. Every choice reshapes the story, creating branching paths and multiple endings. Replaying key moments offers new perspectives rather than restarting from the beginning. Fully voiced characters add emotional depth to the dark and twisted narrative.
Upcoming Projects for the Studio

Black Tabby Games also teased upcoming content. The penultimate chapter of Scarlet Hollow will release soon. A free demo of the first chapter is available on Steam, and players can carry their progress into the full game.
The studio plans to launch merchandise in collaboration with Fangamer in late spring or early summer. While no specific items have been announced, fans can expect themed merchandise related to their games.
Availability

Slay the Princess: The Pristine Cut is available now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The milestone confirms the game’s success as a standout in the horror visual novel genre. With branching stories, replayable moments, and immersive voice acting, it has captured the attention of both critics and players alike.
