Omega Force studio director and DYNASTY WARRIORS: ORIGINS producer Tomohiko Sho says making a sequel to the game might require the team to commit to a full trilogy.
In a recent interview with Famitsu, Sho explained that ORIGINS was originally planned as the first part of a two-game series. The first game would tell the story up to The Battle of Red Cliffs, and a potential sequel would continue through The Battle of Wuzhang Plains.
However, after finishing ORIGINS, the team realized they had covered the events leading up to The Battle of Red Cliffs in much more detail than they first planned. “I realized that maintaining the same level of density in a single sequel while covering everything up to The Battle of Wuzhang Plains would be impossible,” Sho said.

This led Omega Force to consider that if they make a sequel, they might need to commit to a trilogy instead of just two games. Sho made it clear that nothing is confirmed yet. Whether future sequels actually happen will depend on how well the new DLC and main game sell.
The interview came ahead of the launch of DYNASTY WARRIORS: ORIGINS’s first major DLC expansion, “Visions of Heroes,” set to release on January 22. The add-on brings four new “What If” scenarios that weren’t in the main game, along with new companion characters, weapons, and a Training Ground mode.

The DLC itself wasn’t originally planned either. Omega Force decided to create “Visions of Heroes” because the base game performed better than they expected. Given this response to player interest, fans hoping for a sequel trilogy may have reason to be optimistic.
