Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive might skip releasing physical copies of Grand Theft Auto 6 on launch day, according to a new report from Polish gaming site PPE.pl.
The report comes from insider Graczdari, who previously shared accurate information about other game releases, including Oblivion: Remastered physical copies, the Switch 2 version of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, and the PS5 version of Microsoft Flight Simulator.
According to Graczdari, who PPE.pl says works with physical game distribution in Europe, Take-Two currently has no plans for a physical edition at launch. While a physical release appears likely to happen eventually, it may come weeks or even months after the digital version goes live.
“We’re hearing more and more that the physical version won’t be released simultaneously with the digital version to prevent leaks,” the source stated.

The timing remains unclear. Some reports suggest the physical version could arrive three to four weeks after digital release, while others point to early 2027. PPE.pl notes that more details may become available in mid-February.
The potential decision comes after Grand Theft Auto 6 has faced multiple leaks over the past few years. In September 2022, over an hour of development footage appeared online in one of the gaming industry’s biggest data breaches. In December 2023, the game’s first trailer leaked a day early, though in low quality with heavy watermarking. Earlier in 2021, footage from Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition also leaked before release.

Physical game copies have been a common source of leaks in the gaming industry, as retailers sometimes receive shipments before official release dates. Players who get early copies have occasionally streamed gameplay online before games officially launch.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is currently scheduled to release on November 19, 2026. The game was originally planned for Fall 2025, then moved to May 26, 2026, before being pushed to its current November date.
