Larian Studios has shared new details about its next Divinity game through a recent Reddit AMA, addressing fan questions about multiplayer features and the studio’s stance on AI-generated content. During the AMA session, technical director Bert De Smet confirmed that cooperative multiplayer will be available when the game releases. The number of players who can join together will depend on the final party size, which hasn’t been announced yet.
De Smet also mentioned that modding support is planned for the project, which could allow players to adjust these limits themselves. “Since modding is planned for this project as well, players will be essentially free to extend this. There is no hard limit to the amount of coop players,” he explained.

This approach matches Larian’s previous games, where modding communities have been able to expand gameplay options beyond the base game’s features. Game director Swen Vincke addressed questions about artificial intelligence, stating clearly that the game will not contain any generative AI content. The studio has also stopped using AI tools during early development stages, including for concept art and moodboards.
“We decided to refrain from using it during the concept phase because we want to be 100% sure about the source material,” Vincke said. He emphasized that knowing the origin of creative materials is more important than the convenience AI tools might offer.
At the end of the AMA, Vincke thanked the community and said the team is returning to active development. “We’re going to go back and work on the game now — next time we speak, we’ll hopefully have things to show. I can’t wait!” he wrote. The Divinity project is currently in full production, though Larian has not announced a release date or shown any gameplay footage yet.
