SEGA brings Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds to the Nintendo Switch 2 today, giving players a faster and sharper version of the multiplayer racer. The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is now available digitally, and players who already own the original Nintendo Switch version can upgrade through the new Upgrade Pack. This enhanced edition offers smoother performance, improved graphics, and full crossplay support, so racers can compete across multiple platforms with ease.
Limited-Time Rewards and Discounts

SEGA is also celebrating the launch with several early-buyer rewards. Anyone who purchases the game between December 4, and December 18, will receive the exclusive Werehog Pack. In addition, the Upgrade Pack is 50% off until December 11, making the jump to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition more affordable. Save data transfers smoothly from the original Nintendo Switch version. If players run the game on a regular Nintendo Switch console, the title will match the performance of the older version.
Built by SEGA’s Veteran Racing Team

The game comes from SEGA’s long-time racing developers, and they designed it to feel fast, chaotic, and fun. Because the game supports crossplay, racers can challenge friends and rivals around the world. Combined with the visual upgrade and higher frame rate on Nintendo Switch 2, the new edition delivers a more responsive racing experience while keeping its signature unpredictability.
New Collaboration Content Rolls Out With the Latest Update
Alongside the release, SEGA has pushed out a major update. It features new collaboration content with Crazy Raccoon, Inugami Korone, and Rejekun. The update also adds two new tracks for the in-game Jukebox: “No.1” from Crazy Raccoon and “HONGAMI Precious Moment” from Inugami Korone and Tomoya Ohtani. Moreover, players can equip a wide selection of crossover decals inspired by REJ and various Crazy Raccoon members, adding more personality to each customized Machine.
Legend Competition Mode and New Gadgets Boost Gameplay

The update doesn’t stop there. SEGA has also introduced Legend Competition, a limited-time mode aimed at the game’s top racers. This mode will return regularly, and the first event starts on December 5. Players can also unlock six new Gadgets—including Strong Finish, Lucky Pair, and Ring Mercy—once they upgrade their Gadget Plate to the Silver tier or higher. These additions give racers more strategic options during each match.
The Game Awards 2025 Nominations

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds continues to gain recognition. The game is currently nominated for Best Family and Best Sports/Racing at The Game Awards 2025. Fans can show support by voting on the event’s official website until December 11. With community support, the game may secure a spot among the year’s top winners.
Free Demo Available for New Players

Anyone who wants to try the game can download a free demo on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, or the Epic Games Store. The demo allows players to customize Machines, test Gadgets, and race in Grand Prix or Time Trial. Progress carries over to the full game, so newcomers can jump straight into the action once they decide to purchase.
