Ubisoft recently released new content for two Assassin’s Creed titles, but fan reactions have been sharply different. While last week’s free Valley of Memory DLC for Assassin’s Creed Mirage received positive feedback, this week’s Attack on Titan crossover for Assassin’s Creed Shadows has drawn criticism from players.
The Attack on Titan crossover arrives as a free update to Assassin’s Creed Shadows, alongside a new quest that lets main characters Naoe and Yasuke learn some of each other’s skills. However, the crossover content itself has become a point of concern for some fans. Twitter user TheHiddenOneAC shared detailed criticism of the Attack on Titan crossover, calling it “a complete waste of time.” They explained that roughly 90% of the quest involves “very generic climbing and swinging with really poorly put together routes.”
One major disappointment highlighted was the absence of any Titan battles. Fans pointed out that previous Assassin’s Creed games featured fights against gods in Origins, mythical beasts in Odyssey, and dragons and deities in Valhalla, but noted “they didn’t even bother to do this for the titan.”
I finished the Attack on Titan and Assassin’s Creed Shadows collab, and safe to say, that was a complete waste of time. It felt like a total mess. I had low expectations, but I didn’t expect them to be that low holy.
Almost 90% of the entire collab quest is just very generic… pic.twitter.com/oOUkX8OgAD

The cutscene quality also drew criticism with fans mentioning the lack of motion capture and poor cutscene execution, particularly when compared to the Valley of Memory DLC. Another twitter expressed frustration with the difference in quality between the two releases, calling it “SO INCONSISTENT” to have the well-received Mirage DLC followed by what they called “this abomination” in Shadows.
The contrasting reception to these two DLC releases has sparked discussion among fans about content quality and consistency across the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
