Digital Extremes showcased the first look at Warframe running on Nintendo Switch 2 during its latest Devstream, revealing handheld gameplay with DLSS technology enabled. The company confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 version will not launch this year, pointing to a 2026 release window.
The Devstream primarily focused on revealing more details about Warframe’s upcoming Narrative Chapter, The Old Peace, set to arrive in December. Launching alongside it is The Devil’s Triad, a side story that introduces three new Protoframes and Gemini Skins, an expanded romance and relationship system, and a new game mode called The Descendia.
The Devil’s Triad centers around three Protoframes connected to the dark legacy of Albrecht Entrati: Marie Leroux (Wisp), Father Lyon Allard (Harrow), and Vice Regent Grand Carnus Roathe (Uriel), a brand new Warframe. Players can build relationships with these characters through the game’s expanded romance system, with each Protoframe featuring fully voiced Gemini skins.
The Descendia game mode challenges players to venture through a twisted tower with 21 randomly generated floors that increase in difficulty. Floor layouts change weekly, with every seventh floor guaranteeing an encounter with one of The Devil’s Triad members. Players can trade with each Protoframe for cosmetic and gameplay rewards while collecting audio transmissions to uncover their stories.

The Old Peace update will also bring Focus School Expansion enhancements, introducing new ultimate abilities for each Focus School. Players can unlock these forgotten Focus Ultimates by meeting with Marie Leroux after completing The Descendia runs. Additional features include Honoria, the game’s first player titles for profiles, and Gyre Prime, the next Prime Warframe with a gilded design.

Digital Extremes also announced a graphical remaster for the Operator and Drifter, featuring new character models, updated hair and makeup options, and technical improvements.
Beyond the Nintendo Switch 2, the studio announced that players can now opt-in for the Warframe Android closed beta test, which will welcome select players in November. Warframe is currently available on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and iOS, with the Android version coming in the future.
