Capcom revealed more details about Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection during the TGS 2025 Capcom Online Special Program, showing off an extended version of the game’s release date trailer. The new trailer puts more focus on the game’s story, showing a darker tone as large-scale wars approach. This turn-based RPG takes players into a world where two nations, Azuria and Vermeil, are heading toward conflict.
The story centers around a crystal problem that threatens to destroy everything. When an egg is found, it hatches two Rathalos twins. These creatures have the same mark as the Skyscale Rathalos, twin monsters that were involved in a civil war 200 years ago.
Players take on the role of Azuria’s heir, who leads the Rangers and is the only Rathalos Rider in the kingdom. This character has special powers that let them connect with Monsties (monster companions) and has been working to protect these creatures while studying something called egg quartz.
When disaster hits their home, the protagonist travels north past the Meridian into forbidden lands, looking for answers that could stop another disaster from happening.

The story also features Eleanor, the princess of Vermeil. She offers herself as a political hostage to Azuria, hoping to prevent war between the nations. She becomes an important ally in the journey, traveling with her trusted Monstie Anjanath. Eleanor joins the expedition because she has questions about her sister, who is the Queen of Vermeil, and what her nation really plans to do. Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection will launch on March 13, 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam.
