The Pokémon Company, together with GAME FREAK inc. and KOEI TECMO GAMES, has officially announced Pokémon Pokopia, a brand-new life simulation title set to release worldwide on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. A first look trailer was unveiled during Nintendo Direct, showcasing a fresh direction for the franchise that focuses on creativity, community, and a more relaxing pace compared to the traditional RPG formula.
Live As a Human-Like Ditto

In Pokopia, players step into the role of a Ditto that has transformed into a human-like form. This unique protagonist builds a new life alongside Pokémon, gathering resources, crafting items, and creating a cozy home for themselves and their companions. By learning moves from other Pokémon, Ditto steadily gains abilities that allow players to reshape their surroundings. For example, learning Leafage from Bulbasaur adds greenery to barren areas, while Water Gun from Squirtle helps revive plants.
Building a Pokémon Community

The heart of Pokopia lies in building and nurturing a vibrant settlement. Players can collect materials such as wood and stone, till soil to grow crops, and craft furniture to make their village more inviting. As the community grows, more Pokémon will appear, each bringing unique skills that expand possibilities. Charmander can create campfires, Drilbur tills the land for farming, and Hitmonchan breaks rocks into building materials.
Over time, players will be able to develop an entire town, attracting a wide range of Pokémon. The game even allows other players to visit, bringing a social element to the cozy life sim experience.
A Relaxing World Tied to Real Time
Much like real-world life simulation games, Pokopia features weather changes and a day-night cycle that affect both the environment and the Pokémon living in it. The pace is designed to be relaxing, encouraging players to enjoy each activity at their own rhythm. From fishing by a waterfall to creating a perch for Pidgey, every interaction adds charm to the living world of Pokopia.
Release Details
Pokémon Pokopia will launch in 2026 exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2, available both physically and digitally. Pre-orders for the digital edition will open on November 12, 2025, through Nintendo eShop and My Nintendo Store. The game supports 1–4 players, includes multiple language options at launch, and will require a Nintendo Switch Online membership for certain online features.
As the first life simulation game in the Pokémon franchise, Pokopia marks a bold new step for the series. By blending cozy world-building with the magic of Pokémon companionship, it offers fans a completely new way to engage with the world they love.
