After years of waiting and endless speculation, Nintendo has officially announced that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will launch on December 4, 2025. The reveal came during the latest Nintendo Direct and included the surprise confirmation that the game will feature open-world exploration, a first for the franchise.
Samus Takes To The Open Road
The biggest talking point from the trailer was undoubtedly Samus Aran’s new motorbike, officially named Vi-O-La. This vehicle allows her to traverse expansive environments, giving the series a fresh sense of scale and speed. The gameplay footage showed Samus using Vi-O-La not just for travel but also for combat, blasting enemies while racing across hostile terrain.
New Suit And Expanded Gameplay
The Metroid Prime 4: Beyond trailer also highlighted Samus’ striking red suit, first teased in an earlier preview. With its sleek design and apparent importance, the suit looks set to play a central role in both gameplay and story. The shift to open-world design means players can expect new ways to approach exploration, combat, and progression, pushing the series in a bold new direction while retaining its atmospheric identity.
Amiibo Arriving Ahead Of Launch

Nintendo is pairing the game’s release with new amiibo figures. On November 6, fans will be able to pick up both a standalone Samus figure and a Samus & Vi-O-La bundle. Then, on December 4, the same day as the game’s launch, a Sylux amiibo will be available, celebrating the return of a long-standing character in the Metroid universe.
